INSPIRATIONAL: “WHY WE SHOULD APPRECIATE GOD ALWAYS” BY PROFESSOR S.E. EGBOWON

Image
You came to this world through struggle. You survived the turbulent months in the womb. You went through childhood to adulthood. Numberless times you went through love, hatred, oppression and discrimination. Many born the same time with you didn't go beyond childhood  Some ended up as House Helps  While some for no faults of theirs became victims of circumstances. Some have sorrows trailing them. Today you are alive. Right now some people are dying. I'm not better than them. Have I ever thought of why I'm alive? How many of my age mates are no more? How much do I pay for the blood that flows in my veins? How much do I pay for the air I brethren in and out every second? How much do I pay for being alive? If the owner of life were to take it now, can I survive? Let us appreciate God. Let us extend the love and mercy of God to others. You are alive to give joy to others. You are alive to give hope to the hopeless.  You are alive to give strength to the oppressed....

REFLECTIVE: "COGNIZANCE" BY SOMDATTA MITRA

Image
I realised in my ultimate introspection , That peace is the most definite path to burning steady ;  Like a lamp that outlasts the wind. In the myriad phases of life , Peace asks for no sacrifice . Rather a devotion to listening --- To the heartbeats that pump the silence .   Between what I chase and what I am. Until the two stop arguing , The life that is invisible to my eyes begins to show itself. And I call that breathing my own space , Tilting into a divine calmness that I want to hold on.  There is peace in my own cognizance , Like a flame resting in its own light. In commotion where several questions roll around , The mind seems to be a  river . After stone circles chasing circles, Until the water remembers it can still carry the moon. Peace isn't absence of questions , It's the mind remembering how to be both the ripple and the reflection. Enduring all disturbances in a strength to burn , Carrying the elements of how I see my own self. Here I sense ...

JEREMIAD: "A WAY HOME" BY MAURICE N CHIADZWA

Image
You fell to the depths of depression In smoke you have found an illusion To the deepest where life is darkest Your soul now slides on the roughest But hold my hand, I know a way home... Found your poor life snared in a trap And in cigarette smoke you'd escape But the 'high' they say seems to be false Spits in the wind, swiming up waterfalls But follow my lead, I know the way home... Your sole tool is now a dagger of rage Anger has turned into a ruthless cage You scavenge, with the dream to be free But drugs and smokes are just a fake key But I have the keys, the map for way home Each sip and sniff opens doors for regrets You keep sinking away in a flood of mistakes You are far from hope, fallen from grace But hold on and we will take off at rocket's pace But hold on as we go up, as we take the way home You have a pit, in dirt without any gold Like a grave, it's empty and it's cold But a ray of light gently spreading warmth To cover your cracks at the...

"A HOLISTIC REVIEW, IN POETIC FORM" BY MUHAMMAD MERCURIAL

Image
I read your poem not with eyes alone but with the pulse of every parent who has feared tomorrow before it arrives You stand in the trembling corridor of care where love wears worry like a second skin and hope learns how to whisper Your tides carry what we cannot control your pinwheel spins teaching resilience how not to break Some words stumble seeking clearer breath yet even in their fracture they speak truth You give the mother a sleepless night and the father a silent crown a king who cannot voice his fear Your children glow like fireflies learning to survive their own light This is more than a poem it is a quiet vigil Refine your language for your depth is certain Here I did not just read fear I witnessed love enduring itself  God bless you mam © MUHAMMAD MERCURIAL -India⁩ This poem, "A HOLISTIC REVIEW, IN POETIC FORM" by Muhammad Mercurial, is a powerful and empathetic response to a poem about parenthood and fear. The speaker describes reading the original po...

JEREMIAD: "A BATTLE WE AS PARENTS STRIFE" BY SOMDATTA MITRA

Image
In the paths of uncertainty in life , Every phase seems to be a tide with its ebb and flow. Unpredictable incidents often scare us , But like a pinwheel in sudden wind , we learn to spin determined , never to break. From sudden contusion to brain injuries , Or for a permanent loss of someone passing by . Life is fragile in its most dreadful incidents, That we may never be able to mend . Our physical health and mental health, Are the quiet anchors we must tend . For in a world we cannot control ,  Care is the courage we choose.  For our children as parents we sigh !  How will they walk these tides ! Even in their new season,  To bloom where they are still seen immatured at times. In its ghastly levelled truth ,   Paranoid mother's are continuing breaths in the dark . And fathers are brave who cannot unfold their anxieties,  To creep in the silent forged dominion.  As a king a father , couldn't be a shield to his son ,   His he...

THE WORD FOR TODAY: "FRIENDS IN LOW PLACES" BY GREG ELKAN

Image
Greetings Beloved, our focus this week on ElkanWFT will be on the last persons we usually want to talk about: our *ENEMIES.* Yes, everyone has them, even Believers. Enemies are real and are here to stay with us; it’s no use denying their existence. Even if you’re the world’s greatest pacifist, someone would still find a reason to make you their enemy; (even if it’s for breathing their air!).  And what’s more, it may even be something to BOAST about!  Our Lord Jesus had enemies; and He promised His servants will have the same experience as well (Jn. 15:20); so, being enemy-less doesn’t speak too well of your discipleship status. Do you have enemies? Detractors? People who just cannot see eye-to-eye with you? People who seem to have enough energy and spare time to attack you, your person and your work? Then congratulations! You are in good company. Abel, Abraham, Daniel, David, Elijah, Esther, Ezra, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Joshua, Mordecai, Nehemiah, the apostles, Shad...

THE WORD FOR TODAY: "YOUR WORST ENEMY” BY GREG ELKAN

Image
Is there really such a thing as “Worst Enemy”? I understand the concept of a “Best Friend”, but a “worst” enemy is kind of an ontological paradox, isn’t it? Think about it, the worst kind of teacher is one who does a terrible job at passing knowledge across. The worst employee in a firm is the one who is totally useless at doing their assigned task.  In the same vein, your WORST enemy is the one who is lousy at the job of making your life miserable. Instead of crawling under your skin they lull you to sleep; when they insult you they use words that remind you of your primary 2 class teacher: so instead of fuming, you start feeling nostalgic. They don’t even ‘know’ you so their attempts to infuriate you falls pitifully to the ground. That’s your WORST Enemy. Your BEST Enemy on the other hand is the one who graduated summa cum laude at the University of Making-Your-Life-A-Living-Hell. They know you like the back of their hand. They know your BUTTONS, your peeves, your wea...
